My name is Carolyn Hammond and I am currently a college student studying political science and history. I have always enjoyed writing, and, for as long as I can remember, have been obsessed with fashion. However, my love of fashion went beyond just shopping. When I was thirteen, I created my own fashion magazine, also titled Modish, in which I covered all of my favorite shows from NYFW, PFW, and MFW. I had a copy printed and bound and mailed it to Vogue's headquarters in New York. And, while I never heard anything back from my then-icon Anna Wintour, I never quite let Modish go.
Many years later, I have restarted Modish, this time as a quarterly fashion business publication. Though I still enjoy staying up-to-date on the looks parading down the runways at fashion week, I have since become invested in the unique world of fashion business and fashion law, honing my analytical and research skills through my reports on company financials, editorials related to current events in the fashion industry, and more. Serving as a director for my school's fashion magazine, I have been given the opportunity to explore my journalistic side and to pursue my interests outside of my major. This role is what inspired me to create my own publication, specifically one on fashion business---This is how Modish Quarterly was born. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it!
